I have been having this error now consistently for over 2 weeks. whenever i leave my pc on for a while say 5-6 hrs or i am playing a game and exit it, the pc hangs and i cant open any thing including task manager without gettinng that darned error message.i cant even shut down properly.I dont know what started it or when it even started. I did increase my memory from 1gb to 2gb if that helps.

It is in a little box in the middle of the screen. It actually says, "the application failed to initialize (0xc0000142). Click ok to terminate"

Instead, it sounds like a software problem. It might be a Windows component that has failed to initialise (start up) or it might be another application that you have installed. Does the message box have a title bar at the top that says which program or EXE filename is trying to start up?
theres no box at the top or anything. it occurs after i use a software like a game, any game. when i eventually exit the software, the problem starts. any program i try to open gives the message.i tried deleting some software and it hasnt happened in a while so im hoping thats that.
