Question How can I unrestrain local content under MSIE 6

This is a browser issue as well. Using MSIE 6, I haven't been able to run a Java game that I have off of my own hard drive, because of the security restrictions. That was under Windows ME but now I've migrated to WXP and I was hoping beyond hope that I could set the security options correctly to override any restrictions. But I cannot. I've tried adding the site "file://Documents and Settings" to my Local intranet zone and then setting its "Custom Level" security to low. This didn't work so I removed that site and added it instead to my "Trusted Sites" zone, with again low security set. I had to UNcheck the box that said use only https for this zone. But arghh, that didn't work either. Early on I tried what MSIE Help says, which is to manually enable prompting for active controls, in the main Internet Zone. It doesn't matter because I've tried everything and nothing works. I want to be able to launch this Java game offline for a variety of reasons. How can I do this? Of course, under Opera or Firefox there is no proplem, but I need to launch this game with MSIE to check the window size, spacing, screen positioning needs and such.

I am requesting *general* information, but if you wish to experiment with the precise same content that I am using, I've attached it. It's a very small Zip archive that contains the game and its launcher. (It's perfectly safe content, I assure you!) Try to get that to launch correctly under WXP SP2. I am unable. The game window must be launched without snag, for it must be of certain dimensions and with certain traits (no toolbars etc). Hopefully this is of straightforward resolution, but I've tried everything imaginable. Administrator privileges? ..not an issue, since my system is configured with only a sole fully-empowered user.

Maybe my javascript code for launching the applet is flawed, I dunno, but the game launches just fine from online.

Are you using Microsoft's java machine or Sun's Java Runtime Environment?

Thanks but hey, I just found it -- it's buried in the Advanced tab of Internet Options, under Security sub-heading: "Allow active content in files from My Computer"
