Can anyone tell me why some of my application folders in Windows Explorer appear a paler yellow in colour to others?
its hard to google that question so if anyone can advise me that would be
great. Those folders also are drawn with a serrated edge or I should say not a solid edge.
if the folder is hidden but you have the folder options set to "show hidden files & folders" then the hidden ones are displyed as a paler colour.
To Unhide the folders go to that folders properties and uncheck the hidden check box. Alternatively to hide the "hidden" folders go to tools menu in explorer, folder options, select the view tab and check the option "Do Not show hidden files and folders."

Thankyou, those paler folders in my explorer by default would be hidden but I amend a lot of them in notepad to tweak gaming performance so I enable "show hidden files and folders".
I didnt know until you told me that they appear differently to others
