Programmes not starting up

Hi,
I,m a bit of a novice asnd was trying to remove programmes and I clicked on a programme which told my pc to only start with certain programmes/files running.

I cannot remember what i did but I cannot now acess my help programme or loads of programmes and do not know why to undo my damage, my system recovery only has a recovery point of today so can't use that, when I go into admin manager to start any programme it won't let me manually start them.

Help please
I have a sony Va10 laptop windows XP.

Thanks in advance

"I clicked on a programme which told my pc to only start with certain programmes/files running."

What program was this? Does it not have an option to undo or redo?

If not you can see if your programs are listed under start Run... msconfig

Check both under Startup and Services and enable all.

Re: Programmes not starting up

Hi,
Thank you for your reply msconfig worked.

Last question if I may.
The laptop has a built in system recovery but with the restore points I cannot access any prior to march 2007 if there any way I can recover
the system to when sent out by the factory i.e new.

I don'thave any recovery disks.

Re: Programmes not starting up

I believe the restore points are rolling and there is only a certain number that will be stored and overwritten as more restore points are created.

Try contacting the manufactuer for a new set of recovery discs

Re: Programmes not starting up

As you say "The laptop has a built in system recovery "...

In many cases this is true and there is no disk involved. There is a recovery partition on the hard drive usually with a hotkey access.

On some models there is the option to create recovery disks when you first use the computer. Often this is not pointed out very well.

The manual should have recovery options and details.
