Login Screen not Loading

Afternoon All!

I have an EMachine 270. I turned it off one night last week by the power switch and it hasn't booted up fully since. For a few weeks proir to this problem i occasionaly got the error "no operating system found" but a quick restart resolved this. The XP Logo loads and the cursor appears with the hour glass but then the screen remains black and the login menu fails to appear. I can tap shift 5 times and the "sticky keys" screen pops up so i would imagine that eliminates any problem with XP? I don't have the original reboot disk and emachines no longer stock my version. They reccommended buying Windows XP but i can't see that helping.

Can you get into Safe Mode?

I can get into Safe mode but nothing appears on the screen.

If you have a floppy drive try the 6 floppy setup disks from Microsoft:

This should get you to the Recovery Console

First try the command:

FIXBOOT

If no go try:

FIXMBR

Or next:

BOOTCFG
