Usb device not recognized

Hi. I'm using an ipod video 5g, and when i went to plug it in today i got a message in windows saying usb device not recognized. In the device manager it simply shows up as unkown device. Other usb devices and even other ipods are functioning fine, so i'm not sure what the problem could be.
