Re: What are Snap-ins, Java, etc.?
Java is almost essential for many streaming technologies. It is a programing language and platform. Most everyone uses it. It is very legitimate.
Snap-ins (Plug-ins) are Browser extensions that enable some programs or web sites to display material that is not included in a default browsers capability. Whether or not they can be harmful depends on where they are coming from.
If you trust a site allow them. If you don't trust a site refuse them. If you have XP SP2 and all current updates they can do nothing without asking your permission.
