Adding another HDD

I thought an 80gb HDD was big enough for me until I stared using Win XP. I would like to add another bigger HDD or swap my 80gb for a 160gb or larger. What do I do, just buy a bigger Hdd and plug it into the unused leads inside my computer and off we go?? Or is there a lot more to it than that. I just bet there is!! Can anyone explain in words of one syllabul or les how do get a lager Hdd up and runnig , please?

Re: Adding another HDD

there is a little more than that....

First off- TURN OFF YOUR COMPUTER!!! and unplug it aswell

then, you need to set the jumper to slave (see the hard drives manual or label on the drive) check your existing drive also because you MAY need to set that to master w/slave (if it has a setting for this)

once you have done this, plug the un-used ribbon cable connector and a 4 pin molex (power) connector to the HD, screw the HD in place and turn on your PC

Re: Adding another HDD

Thanks Madmike that looks relatively straightforward. I may just be able to handle that myself!! If I cant I'll be back. Thanks again for the info where to go. Stron.
