old disc structure

Hi
How do I eliminate my old disc structure from my computer. I had to insert my disc to reinstall xp home. My old system had a virus which I could not remove. Now, when I'm scanning my system it takes an age running through the old disc structure. Is it possible to remove without starting from scratch?

Re: old disc structure

Do you have a folder specifically entitled "old disk structure"?

Did you reinstall XP from an OEM recovery disk?

If so who is the manufacturer?

Re: old disc structure

No I don't have a folder for the old disc structure and the disc I used was a disc I purchased from Microsoft.

Re: old disc structure

In searching that "old disk structure" I found some OEM XP CD's leave a folder called "Old Disk Structure" which is used as an OEM backup folder.

You say when you scan your system you see it scanning "old disk structure"? Is this correct?

If so you should be able to Search your computer for such a listing and delete it. Perhaps it is a seperate partition?

Re: old disc structure

I have found my old disc structure folder 0n the local disc. I'm unable to delete it to the recycle bin. The operation starts then stops after a few seconds.

Re: old disc structure

If you are absolutely certain you want to delete it try Move On Boot.

Re: old disc structure

I can delete most of my old disc excepting WINDOWS & DOCUMENTS?SETTINGS using move on boot.
Also relating to difficulty in starting my computer it is now happening every time I switch it on. I have to shut down at least twice before it boots up.
