Re: ramdom freezes are back

This is certainly a networking error that could be caused by several things. However, this type error should not cause your PC to freeze. You may not have networking, but other programs should work. Please be more specific about the status of the PC when you get this error.

How do you connect to the network? Are you using a router? Do you have any errors (yellow or red icons) shown in Device Manager?

Network cables are cheap (in cost and quality) and if tripped over or pulled one too many times can cause problems. Try a new cable.

You might try going to Start > Run and enter command to open a DOS prompt. In the command window, enter:

ipconfig /release

Then type exit to close the command window, and shut down Windows. Unplug your router, if using one, or your cable/DSL modem if no router. Leave unplugged for about 30 seconds. Then plug it back in, wait about 30 seconds then power up computer and see what happens.

You should probably run through all your malware scans too to ensure your system is clean.

Yes you maybe right.

Just to give you a better idea of how it happens, I can tell you that most of times I dont notice the freezing, only when I seat in front of the PC I can see it is frozen (so no special action was happening).Another detail is that the mouse arrow is moving all along the screen but I dont see it when I drive it to my tools bar , dont know if this is significant or not ???

Any ideas ??

hilario.

Re: ramdom freezes are back

I am still not clear by what you mean by frozen. Frozen to me means the clock stops, the NumLock light does not change when press the NumLock button, if you press the Windows keys nothing happens. The only way out is to reboot with the power button. Is that what is happening?

If you reboot and do something other than use the Internet, does it still lock up?

When do you get the error message?

Nevertheless, my ideas are the same as listed.

Hi Digerati:

First of all thank you for yr time.

With freezing I mean no action can be made, short-cuts dont work, internet dont open, ALT+CTRL+DEL dont work.I have to use the reboot button to re-start the PC.(ah if I have any music playing it keeps playing till the end).

hope this gives you a better idea of what is happening.

tks.hilfer.

EDIT: everything works fine again after a reboot.

Re: ramdom freezes are back

Well I dont know what to do now.

After a deep scan with NOD32 some suspictious files were removed, but still
having freezings from time to time.

Sometimes it freezes when rebooting.

I dont see any solution. Can it be an hardware problem ???

Something wrong with my motherboard ??

hilfer

Re: ramdom freezes are back

Hilfer - please answer the questions I have asked. Also, what did you find in Device Manager? Did you replace the cable?

Is the inside of the computer clean of dust and dirt? Freezing can be caused by heat. But it can also be caused by failing RAM, failing motherboard, failing video card or malware.
