XP Language Issues on Google and Java

Hi there,

I run an English Language Xp on my computer. Recently, I altered some language settings in an attempt to enable Central European characters but in the process, I enabled Chinese characters as well. Ever since, whenever I open Internet Explorer, my home page (www.google.com.au) automatically opens in Chinese. If I proceed to run a search from this page without changing it back to English first, the results will also be displayed in chinese. Similarly, I play an online game which uses Java and whenever I login into this games Java interface, it again loads in Chinese. Other than that, the Chinese text does not seem to appear anywhere else.

I have tried doing everything I can to reverse whatever I did to create this problem but have had no luck. Can someone please help me?

Thanks you very much,

Operaboy

Re: XP Language Issues on Google and Java

Thanks,

I tried both of those. No problem with clearing the history and cookies, thanks. However, when I tried to run the DNS Flush, I got this response:

"Could not flush the DNS Resolver Cache: Function failed during execution."

Do you know how I can fix this?

Now, the cleared history and cookies seemed to have resolved the IE/Google problem but not the Java one. Is this something that the DNS Flush would take care of?

Kindest regards,

Operaboy.

Re: XP Language Issues on Google and Java

Try turning off IE and any Java applications that might be running then from cmd type:

ipconfig /release

then:

ipconfig /renew

then:

ipconfig /flushdns

You can check for Java apps in the Task Manager. Often listed as JRE...

Task Manager can be opened by right clicking a "blank" area on the bottom Taskbar.
