Windows XP Home Edition W/SP2

Have a problem with my computer (Dell 2400) running slowly. Do not know what else to do. Following is things that have been done....
Ran CCleaner, Spybot Search and Destroy, AVG Anti-Spyware, AVG virus scan, AVG RootKit, Ad-Aware, and defrag hard drive. Everything looks fine except when I run an old version of Xoft Spy it tells me I have 15 registry problems and I do not have the serial and this program is retired so I am unable to run the fix.
This is strange because I have Registry Repair Pro and ran it and cleared problems that this program found. But Xoft Spy still shows same problems after another scan .
Did search in forums and found no one that had the exact same problems.
Xoft Spy indicates that I have
1. Ace Password Sniffer (I never installed this program)keylogger
2. 15 Winpcap Data Miner and list them as severe risk
I do not know if any of these problems would cause the OS to run slow or not.
Would a Hijack this be in order for someone to help me with this. If it is permissible please respond and I will save one and post.
PS also un-installed WinPcap from Control Panel /ADD/Remove Programs
Thanks in Advance:

Re: Windows XP Home Edition W/SP2

If you press ctrl+alt+delete to get task manager, do you see any processes that are using cpu when your computer should be idle?

go to start > run and type "msconfig". Go to the last tab (startup). Look down the list of items for things you don't require to run on startup. You could even un tick them all but you will probably want a couple of them such as MsnMsgr.exe (windows messenger).
If there are items with nondescriptive names or you just don't recognise them, try unticking them too and reboot the PC.
