Driver_IRQL_not_less_or_equal....

Here is my debug log, getting alot of these lately. I noticed it will usually occur if I am doing some intensive stuff such as converting a movie then load up photoshop etc, I have 2gb but who knows if that is enough or if that even really is the problem, maybe one of you guys can help diag this, thanks.

Re: Driver_IRQL_not_less_or_equal....

Do all your dumps list INVALID_CONTEXT ?

What Firewall are you running?

Re: Driver_IRQL_not_less_or_equal....

I am not sure if all of the dumps say the above. I am using outpost firewall and I did notice an alert from it that the debugwiz was attempting to make a connection and I think I may have denied it or something, could that be it? I don't know how to allow it access again in outpost.

This has been a real problem lately and I could use some help. I renamed kmixer.sys to kmixer.bak since most of the dump problems I have had had been because of that and of course now I don't have sound since its apparently a required process. I have a dfi-lanparty NF4 mobo so I am going to try to get sound drivers for that and see if that helps. Any other suggestions?

I was also having a problem with zonealarm and uninstalled it and switched to outpost.

Re: Driver_IRQL_not_less_or_equal....

kmixer.sys is always listed in dump logs and is not usually the issue just a process that tends to float near the surface at all times.

That is your audio driver. You can reinstall it from the computer or motherboard manufacturer's web site.

I asked about firewalls because the INVALID_CONTEXT BSOD is often blamed on Outpost.

I would remove all firewalls and just use XP2's in order to see of this stops the BSOD's.

Re: Driver_IRQL_not_less_or_equal....

thanks for the info, I am still a bit weary about removing outpost, do you use just windows firewall?

Re: Driver_IRQL_not_less_or_equal....

I have used Outpost and Zone Alarm as well as Sygate.

As of now all I use is XP's. I find it adequate and trouble free.
