Unable to log on as administrator.
We had another power failure as usual. This time when I switched my pc on again, I was unable to log in as myself (Administrator). I can however log on as my wife who does not have Admin rights. My log on pic has just vanished. But when I log in on safe mode, I have the both options again. Please, can someone help? By the way, power failures is now very commen in the new South Africa.

Re: Unable to log on as administrator.
Start the machine in Safe Mode and log on as your account (Admin) and try a system restore to a point which preceeded the problem.
Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, System Restore.

Thank you. I don't know why I did not think of that.

Re: Unable to log on as administrator.
Sorry to be away so long. The email notification of this post had gotton buried way down in my inbox. Cleaning it up today, I found this.
Log on in Safe Mode (where both accounts show) and create a new account. Copy your files etc to the new account.
Or,
Try logging on with the "built-in" Administrator account. When you get the logon screen, hit Ctrl/Alt/Del twice. To access the main administrator account log off all users and hit Ctrl+Alt+Delete twice on the welcome screen (as you would to bring up the Task Manager). This will give you a Windows 2000 style login box where you can select the main admin user.
Many OEM installs come with an initial "Owner" account, which is basically the same thing.
Create a new account with admin rights. Copy your files etc to the new account.
If you create several accounts during setup and never logon to Administrator, you won't see the Administrator profile.
