Sudden Microphone Breakdown :(

Alright, i'm pretty sure that this is a common problem and i'm just an idiot but i can't figure it out and i've been working on this for nearly a week. I love to record! its a fun hobby for me and I use a really good mic (that i don't remember what type it is) ANYWAY! a couple of weeks ago all of sudden it just stopped working and i thought to myself maybe i just over-used it and it needs a couple of days off (lol i told you i'm an idiot) and so i didn't use it and then when i went back to using it, it still didn't work (surprise, surprise..) Now i've been everwhere looking for some type of help and I already reinstalled the soundcards (nothing changed,) I already checked all of my speakers and everything (nothing is broken) and i would be very happy to go out and get a new mic but with two issues, i can't. 1. this one was a present from a very dear friend 2. its expensive... lol
