Re: mail notification
If you go to sounds, and scroll down to "New Mail Notification", and highlight it, what do you have listed below under "Sounds:"?
If there is some ".wav" file listed, what happens when you click on "Test"?

Re: mail notification
Have you lost any other sounds?
In Control Panel, Sounds(etc), Audio tab, what is listed for your Sound Playback - Default Device?

Re: mail notification
Seeza, if you want help, you have to help us - please answer the questions and note the guidance/advice given. As broni correctly pointed out, you need to look for "New Mail Notification" (not something about OE). Click on New Mail Notification to highlight and see what it says in the Sounds: drop down menu box. If something is listed, click on the Play Sound button and see if you hear a sound. If nothing listed, pick something and see if it plays.
Also, please answer Dan's question.

Re: mail notification
Let me rephrase my questions;
1) Have you lost any other sounds?
2) In Control Panel, Sounds(etc), Audio tab, what is listed under Sound Playback as the Default Device?
If you can't change the volume, you've probably lost the sound device, which means all sounds will be affected.

Re: mail notification
In Control Panel, click on Sounds and Audio Devices, then on the Sounds tab. In the Program events window, scroll down a short ways and you will see New Mail Notification.
Also, in Outlook Express > Tools > Options > General, make sure Play sound when new messages arrive is checked.
