Help - Activemovie window

Hello, I have recently started to experience a problem. When I attempt to access the C: drive through 'My Computer', I get a 'ActiveMovie Window'
that pops up blank and then i get a 'Windows Explorer' pop up stating that
windows explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close.

I have updated all virus/spyware definitions and scanned multiple times and
I use programs recommended on this site.

Any help or suggestions with this would be appreciated.

Re: Help - Activemovie window

Did you recently install a codec pack? If so, do a System Restore to a point in time before then.

Others have resolved this problem by disabling overlays in WMP. Go to Tools > Options > Performance > Advanced and under Video Acceleration, uncheck Use video mixing renderer. Then OK your way back out. If not using WMP and instead, are using PowerDVD or some other program, make sure you have the latest version - also there should be a similar setting for overlays.

At this point, some folks have been able to go back in and recheck that setting. Others suggest ensuring "Use high quality mode" is not checked.

Re: Help - Activemovie window

I have not knowingly downloaded any codec packs recently. I have tried adjusting the settings you suggested and I am still having the same issue.

Then I would try a system restore to a point in time before the problem started. You might also check Cleaning Out Malware for any additional tools that might help.

Re: Help - Activemovie window

Well, i am back finally and I am still experiencing the same problem. I did try a system restore and none of my restore points were any different then where I am now. I have tried many different malware/spyware/anti-virus scans with up to date definitions and they have all found nothing on my machine.

Any further help with this issue would be greatly appreciated.
