"Windows - No Disk"

After installing my wireless adapter card I continue to get this pop up that has the title "Windows - No Disk" and says "There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive E:. with buttons to Cancel, Try Again or Continue". I've tried uninstalling my wireless adapter which made it go away but when I reinstalled it again it started appearing again. Right now the only thing that gets it to go away is to leave my setup cd for the adapter in the E: drive. Any ideas on how I can get this to go away?

Re: "Windows - No Disk"

What is the make and model of the card?

Did you install the software on the CD?

Re: "Windows - No Disk"

It is a D-Link DWA-552 and I ran the installer that was on the disk.

Re: "Windows - No Disk"

Download this tool:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301

See if the D-Link software is listed. If so remove it.

Re: "Windows - No Disk"

Only the wireless conection manager is listed and that's used to connect to the access point. So if I disable that then I lose my wireless connection.

Re: "Windows - No Disk"

It stops it from starting automatically.

Out of curiosity I would disable it and see if the CD notice goes away.

You can start the manager manually and you can also go back and re-enable it to start automatically.

Just trying to trace the source of the CD glitch.

Re: "Windows - No Disk"

I've spent some time figuring out what causes it and took some screenshots of the error messages.

I seem to be getting the error when I log off while have something downloading which then causes

and if I try putting in disk that is not the adapter setup disk I get the following

and if I put in the adapter setup disk and click on the continue button instead of the try again button I get the following

Re: "Windows - No Disk"

Don't know why D-Link has anything to do with DemoShield.

Have you tried starting without the "connection manager"?

Such programs are not necessarily required for a connection.

"I log off while have something downloading"

Why would you do that?
