loss of control various programs or system

I do not know if I have some sort of virus or unknowingly deleted or moved required programs while trying to get rid of scanned viruses.

I now cannot get to internet, error says network cannot be found.

I cannot drag files

I cannot use search function

when I look in services folder, the extended tab is empty and the standard tab only has a couple programs running.

I am sure there is more, I just have not found them yet. please help.

Try a System Restore to a point prior to the problem:

start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore

Thanks, I tried system restore and got a error that said "system restore could not protect your computer, restart and try again".

Follow the instructions and post a HijackThis log over in that section.

If those guys give you an "all clear" return to this thread and we can explore further.

one of the problems is that I cannot see my network connection nor add a new one.

in addition I also cannot get onto internet to download spybot or hijack this.

Load it on another computer and then run it on the problem one.

Or you might consider running a Repair Install of XP.

I am not sure I did the hijack thread correctly, no reply.

You did it correctly and it is a very strange log.
