installed new dvd drive not working

hi i have just installed a new dvd drive liteon DH20-A4P and it is not working i have re install drivers to see if it would fix problem but no joy.
i am running xp when i reboot i keep getting error message program version is wrong please install again can anyone help.also i have sonic record now when i open it, it said no recorder thanks steve.

First off DVD/CD drives require no third party drivers.

What program did you install?

Anyway is the drive seen in the BIOS? Is it seen under the Device Manager?

If it is an IDE drive are the jumpers set properly?

If it is a SATA drive are your BIOS SATA ports enabled?

thanks the drive is found in the BIOS and device manager i set the jumper in the same place as the old dvd drive i took out i am not sure about how to enable the ports i did not load any program

Do you know what this refers to?

Is the drive listed in the Device Manager as working OK?

Is the drive listed under My Computer?

Try uninstalling the drive in the Device Manager and then reboot.

This causes XP to reload its drivers.
