Exclamation 16 bit MS-DOS Subsystem problem!

On PC Start up the following pop up window has started to appear.
16 bit MS-DOS Subsystem

C:\PROGRA~1\LIVEUP~1\LIVEUP~1.EXE
The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction.
CS:0f42 IP:0381 OP:ff ff 00 00 00 choose 'Close' to terminate the
Application.

Close-------Ignore

Did a check on Google and tried a on line scan with Panda Active scan, this found 3 threats but as I do not have a credit card was unable TO PAY TO HAVE THEM delete the entries, or find out what these threats were.
Have ran the following programs, which found nothing but tracking cookies, AVG Anti-Virus, AVG Anti-Spy ware, SUPERAnti-Spyware, Spybot-S&D. Tried a system restore that has not helped either. Can anyone suggest any other course of action to solve this problem?

Re: 16 bit MS-DOS Subsystem problem!

LIVEUP indicates some live updater. For some reason it is trying to run in 16 bit on your 32 bit system.

Can you find this LIVEUP on your computer and ID the software?

C:\PROGRA~1\LIVEUP~1\LIVEUP~1.EXE

You might be best off going through the HijackThis route just to verify this is not malware:

HijackThis

Please read THIS and after completing the steps outlined post a HijackThis log over in that section along with a brief description of your problem.

Do not post HijackThis logs in this section please.

Cheers for the quick reply Jephree found the program but still none the wiser as to what it is for. Files in program are:- Bin(empty folder), About(Internet Shortcut, which is blank, EULA(Internet Shortcut, blank also, Manual(Internet shortcut, blank also, Remind.ocx(ActiveX Control 140KB), Uninstall and LiveUpdate.exe. found this link but it is from 2003, http://lists.grok.org.uk/pipermail/f...er/014942.html. will post HJT Log and see if anything is found.
