Re: Strange files on flash drive.
Hi klxdrt and welcome. I have removed your link but inserted the image you referred to. Sadly, there are scumbags that come to these free volunteer staffed sites and post fake problems on their very first post. It is a shame low-life greedy people use others to shamefully drum up personal business for personal financial gains, but they do. I would not want a link to your site in your very first post "give the appearance" you were doing the same. This way is faster for other readers too.
So to your flash drive, what errors do you get when you attempt delete or format?

Re: Strange files on flash drive.
Thanks,
Sorry about , actually, I thought the posted the link went to directly a separate web page link with graphics on it. The testing1234 is a low cost server I use to work on webs I build.
If I put a link to the images it will lead to that server. Its a very simple cost effective for me to post random stuff on the web.
How do you suggest I post images for your forum?
Thanks,
HW

Thanks for your reply Herb. That indicates to me you are sincere, and not someone just attempting to drum up business.
The link did go to a page, on your site where you advertise your IT services - your new link is fine, however, we recommend you use the Manage Attachments button to insert images. On the New Post page, or Advanced Edit page when replying - scroll down to see the button.
Alternatively, you can use one of several "image hosts", such as PhotoBucket or ImageShack.
Please see D-A-L Rules and Terms of Service for details on posting links to commercial sites.

Any luck on the flash drive? Did you try Error Checking?

Oh? I appreciate the followup but how did you fix it?
Taking advantage of this opportunity, it is great when posters figure something out on their own, or even from another source. However, folks come to and search these forums seeking help for their problems in the hopes (1) they are not alone, and (2) someone posted a fix.
And for the more experienced who stick around these forums to lend a hand when they can, we do so because we like to help folks, but also for the chance of learning something new along the way - IT is too big to even pretend to know it all.
So proper forum etiquette is to post the fix, or a link to the fix so others with the same problem can benefit from your efforts too.
In this case, though not my area of expertise, I'm pretty familiar with the Computer Management applet, and the Disk Management applet underneath. I don't know how to delete, let alone access individual files on a disk from within either.

Re: SOLVED: Strange files on flash drive.
Thanks
Someone on one of the many forms I had to visit suggested the compmgmt.msc fix. Thanks to him.
As I said, I could not format using the right clik of mouse method. But this worked.
Follow this link to see the complete Problem/Solution:
S.S flash drive files.htm
--------------------
Tech_Fix on another forum suggested I may have the: ravmon worm and suggested I use: ESET I am in the process of checking this fix out before I try it, and maybe causing more problems.
Will let you know what I find out.
Thanks,
HW

Re: Strange files on flash drive.
Now I understand - you confused me when you said you deleted the files - but it appears you were able to reformat the drive - which, in effect, deleted files, or in reality, marked all the space as free and cleaned up the tables. Thanks.
As for ESET, it is a fine AV. What are you using now?
I normally recommend folks purge their systems of clutter using Windows Disk Cleanup, then running Malwarebytes's Anti-Malware (MBAM) - this is an excellent and free supplemental scanner, and if not using a real-time scanner, the registered version offers real-time scanning with only a 1 time registration fee (no annual subscriptions).
