Re: Desktop Folder question

Not with the tools that come with Windows. But you can change the icon to any other icon of your choice. Or you can use 3rd party software like iColorFolder. Note I have not used this program.

Re: Desktop Folder question

I am using iColorFolder without complaint except that the colors are limited. It integrates into explorer.exe as a right-click option, and will change the folder to one of 7 colors: Red, orange, yellow, pink, green, blue, or gray. Quite helpful in indentifying specific folders.

Re: Desktop Folder question

Thanks for that doc and welcome to D-A-L.

How long have you been using it and with what version/SP of Windows?

Re: Desktop Folder question

Been using it for about a year with XP SP2 (fully updated-manually).

It has been a 'non-event' application. Most of the time I just forget that it is third-party. Seamless integration and color change effects for folders that do not want special icons but need identification.

For example, when I upgraded my Mother to XP (long-time '98 holdout) I went through her directories and changed the color of all the folders that would be risky for her to open/change to red. (Windows/Program Files/Application Data, etc.)
