always faulty DVDs

hello,

My dvd driver/burner is driving me nuts. whatever DVDs i make with it turn out to be "unreadable". I use Nero, and normal windows file manager. The DVD burning process is usually a success. Opening the dvd on my comp (or any other) displays the files on the DVD. However, trying to read the file(s) or transferring them, always produces data errors, i.e. cyclic redundancy check.

the dvd writer is an NEC dvd-rw ND-3500AG.

The drive was delivered with my comp, so, no cd-rom with software is present.

I also tried to check data with NERO after burning it, this resulted in Nero freezing at 23%.

i have tried to update driver witht the hardware update wizard, this is useless as the wizard can't find anything more recent than the one i have (driver provider is MS)

Is this a firmware issue? if so, can this be updated? any ideas?

thanks in advance.

Re: always faulty DVDs

hi,

im using EMTEC DVD+R RW

using max speed with Nero. Now, the drive provides 48x speed..but now as you mentioned the DVD itself...i see that 16x is written on it...you think that might be the problem?

intrestingly, Nero provides 1-6x and then max.

thanks for answering

Re: always faulty DVDs

I am sure the 48x is for burning CDs, not DVDs.
