Angry Application Hijack

I am at my witts end please help! I use Ulead Picture Show 2 to make Slide Shows and all was fine until yesterday morning when I downlaoded a Windows upgrade. Shortly after this I got a message that a Application Hijacker had been detected by Sygate AV. When I looked at Sygate Security log it showed that it was associated with Ulead. When I tried opening the programme I got a Message "Ulead PS2 has encountered a problem and needs to close" I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the programme all to no avail. I Purchased and downloaded Ulead CD/DVD Picture Show 4 from the net and have the same problems.

Re: Application Hijack

Note sure you can automatically assume ULEAD is bad when you are using Sygate AV - a program that was bought, and terminated by Symantec (Norton) over 3 years ago!

My advice is to use System Restore to back up and undo yesterday's update. And see if that takes you back to when it worked. Then I recommend you purge your system of clutter using Windows (XP or Vista) Disk Cleanup, ATF Cleaner or CCleaner. If you use CCleaner, then during installation, uncheck the option to install the Yahoo toolbar and before first use, go to Options > Settings > Advanced and ensure Only delete files in Windows Temp folders older than 48 hours is unchecked.

Note: Ensure you know your site credentials (user name and password) for sites you frequent before cleaning; you may have to login again at next visit.

Then download, install, update, and run Malwarebytes's Anti-Malware (MBAM) to ensure your system is free of malware. Then do the same for all other computers on your network (everything on your side of the Internet gateway, typically a cable/DSL modem).

Note, if this was the "out-of-cycle" critical update MS just released, then it needs to be reapplied.

Also, I have contacted admin to have your username changed. You should NEVER use your email address as your username, anywhere! Nor should you ever post your email address on a public access page, unless you want it released. Badguys troll for addresses to sell to spammers.
