But I try to connect to the interent and the setup wizard cannot find the hardware to connect. I am not sure what that means but you got any adivse.

Also, when I use my Cd that came with my interet modem it atomatically says error when I try to connect useing the Cd

Re: connecting to internet?

There is plenty of help here but you need to be a little more specific describing your problem.
What operating system are you running, Windows XP, 98, ME, or some other ??

What type of internet connection, dial-up, cable, dsl, etc. ???

I assume that by reformat, you are talking about re-installing your OS.

Re: connecting to internet?

You can right click on my computer and select properties and go to hardware tab and after that select Device Manager. Look through The Network Devices and Modems for a explanation mark and click on properties and see if your Network/Modems are working correctly. It sounds like you blew away the drivers for your internal network cards when you reformatted.

Re: connecting to internet?

Well I am useing Windows Xp.
using comcast.
I basically deleted my hardrive and reinstaled everything from the CD that came with my computer. So if my internal network card driver is gone how can i get it back. Am I screwed or what. I mean without interent it is pointless. All my other dirves work fin like USB and mouse, keyboard, speakers, ect just the eithernet does not connect??

Re: connecting to internet?

There are several ways of doing this but this is what I found works the easiest & less complicated

First do as rokytnji suggested:
Quote:
You can right click on my computer and select properties and go to hardware tab and after that select Device Manager. Look through The Network Devices and Modems for a explanation mark and click on properties and see if your Network/Modems are working correctly.
An explanation mark appears usually indicates that there is a conflict and/or the device is not working properly. If so right click the device click properties, check if the device is enabled, then you can click the TROUBLESHOOT button & follow through.

If unsuccessful, uninstall the device & start from scratch.
START, CONTROL PANEL, ADD HARDWARE.
If the device is not there do the same, START, CONTROL PANEL, ADD HARDWARE.

If your install cd is not readable you can can most likely get a new driver by visiting the manufacturers web site & download or call/visit their support page.
