my computer keeps restarting

i have a edited version of windows XP professional on my computer. It always worked well, but in the past couple months it has been restarting without warning, no message comes up. It also has come more frequent. It doesn't matter what I'm doing, whether I'm just listening to music on windows media player or msn and a couple windows of internet up.

I've checked whether it's being overheated, and it's not.

can anyone help me?

well after you explain what the edited version means, I would probably say boot in Safe Mode and run a virus protection program see if that catches anything or you could run it in regular but it might reboot while your running the program

The reason that your computer may be restarting could be down to the psu (power supply) mine did this. However, it could also be down to dust inside the pc which could be causing the fact. Try these out or run a diagnostic test.
