system32 hal.dll. virus HELP!

hi.

i came home today to find my sister had been on the computer doing god knows what. she wont tell me what happened but needless to say it appears a virus has got into the computer. the computer was off so i turned it on and the message windowsrootsystem32/hal.dll came up stating it was corrupt.

i tried safe mode which caused a blue screen to appear and the whole thing to crash and have tried rebooting with operation discs etc. as you can probably tell im not a computer whizz...really starting to get worried..seems everything i try causes it to crash.

the blue screen appears then it basically switches itself off!
