wrong file type

Hi,

Downloaded program files open under windows and fax viewer instead of under their default file type. The reason is that in an attempt to delete a previous program icon from the desktop, I changed under properties, what program it opens in. Does anyone know how could I change the program files back to their default settings?.

thanks,

Jen11

Re: wrong file type

Hi,

I do not know the file extension. before downloading the folder file extensions are: tar.gz, zip and war. I assume they are just compression file extensions. after extraction, there does'nt appear to be a file extension, file types are not recognised by windows. only same the file type icon "windows and fax viewer" appears for the files.

In Windows Explorer, go Tools>Folder options>View tab, and UN-check "Hide extensions for known file types".

Re: wrong file type

I tried unchecking the hide file extension option, but the extracted file types remain without extensions. I think the only way to find out the program file extension is to contact the author of one of the software.

Re: wrong file type

You're correct. There is something wrong with those files.
