dead pc

hi can anyone help,my computer went down ,and on my monitor have just said no signal this has never happened before ,i tried restarting but the make of my monitor appears acer then the no signal comes up, do you think it dead ,i tried recovery disc but because no signal on monitor cant do nothing thanks in anticipation mikeyh

Well, without knowing if this is a PC, Apple, notebook or mainframe computer, HP or Dell, or home made, that's hard to tell. If not a notebook, the first thing to do is swap out monitors with another computer and see what happens.

thanks for speedy reply,its a pc running xp, i tried computer on my mates monitor and its the same,just saying on monitor no signal.its a packard bell the monitor is lcd acer thanks mikeyh

If it does it with two monitors, then it is likely your video card, or if on-board graphics the motherboard. I would also have the power supply tested, or swap in a known good one.
