Everything supersize

Everything on my screen seems to be about 3 or 4 times the size it should be i first reinstalled windows. everything was normall untill i installed nvidia software and everything went supersize so i decided to remove the nvidia software i put on,
But thats made no difference. Ive tried the right click on desktop then settings but it wont allow me to change the screen resolution.
at the moment ive just changed the size of the writing on IE and the size of the icons/writing size on the desktop.

Plus does anyone know which nvidia software i need and how to fix this problem?

Motherboard -
manufacturer - ASUSTeK Computer INC
Model - A7V600-X REV 1 .xx

If you need more info i can get it asap

Re: Everything supersize

Hi,
If you go to Windows Update, (probably under Optional Updates, possibly harware) you should find the latest driver for your graphics card. I found this the case when I installed my 8500GT.

Hope this helps,
Paul

Re: Everything supersize

What Nvidia video card do you have? What driver did you try to install, from where and why did you install it?

Re: Everything supersize

Hi StEvO...

I recommend never using (sorry penguinpaul) Windows Update to upgrade your drivers. I have worked on too many PC\Laptops to see them get pooched after updating drivers from WU. I never update Video, Sound Card, or NIC drivers from WU...I always go to the Manufacturer of the device's web site or in the case of Laptop's (ie: Dell) I go to to the manufacturer's web page.

For nVidia drivers go to => Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers. Once there just fill in the blanks with your card info and you will find the latest and greatest drivers for your card.

Hope this helps...

Re: Everything supersize

Yeh it sounds like installing the driver decreased the resolution but that can usually be increased. However windows generic VGA drivers don't allow you to have a high resolution, at least not for XP. I agree that it is better to get graphics drivers from the manufacturer and it is better to have those installed than using XP's built in drivers.

Re: Everything supersize

Hmm ok, thanks dobhar, I might be wary of this myself then, cos WU is currently nagging me to install a 250mb update for my 8500GT... Maybe I'll pass on that
