Random PC freezes, Pls Help !

Hey,

I bought my pc in the beginning of the year, and since then it has been randomly freezing. It will work fine for days or even weeks and then it will randomly freeze. It will then freeze once or twice (sometimes a few more) that day and then it will work fine for a few days/weeks. And so the process repeats itself.

I have tried everything to fix the problem:
Antivirus programs, regcleaners, antispyware, harware testers, software testers, updating drivers, etc.

What happens when the pc freezes, is that the screen freezes but the sound keeps playing for a short bit. The sound will then freeze (as if running an infinite loop on the current sound piece). After a few second the sound keeps playing then freezes again after a few more seconds. This continues until I turn off my pc.

The freezes happen at random times: starting up windows, exploring My Computer, in a game, etc. It's not like it only happens while playing games.

*EDIT* Oh and btw I have reinstalled Windows, uninstalled my graphics drivers and then reinstalled them, and unistalled/reinstalled my other drivers.

My specs are:

Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.400GHz
4Gigs of RAM
500Gig Harddrive
600Watt PSU
Windows XP (service pack 3)

Thanks in advance for any help

Re: Random PC freezes, Pls Help !

Remove one of the sticks of RAM and see what happens. If that doesn't help, put it back and remove the other.

I agree. If it has been like this since you got it you should take it back. I would have a long time ago. Provided an OS reinstall didn't fix it all thats left is hardware failure. If you haven't yet get your data off of it before it completely fails and then take it back or contact the manufacturer for an RMA. Don't depend on it anymore.

Hey you paid for the warranty so if you need it, use it! But I'd do it sooner rather than later. I know its inconvenient but you have a problem that you can't fix. Only replace. Get all of your personal files off because they will nuke the drive so even if you get the same computer back and not a replacment everything will be gone.
