Hi townsbg,
Yes I was having problems
before I deleted the account, these started with one of the things I was trying to install when I reinstalled Windows on the 29th.
An example was something I have in ISO (or daa, to be more precise) format. Power ISO would extract these to a temporary file, then Windows told me I did not have access. In that case I went to the temporary file and ran the install from there. That reinstall finished about 1am, and I don't recall any other access denied issues before I hit the hay, but I wasn't actually
using the computer to do anything up to that point.
It was since then, I think the first time I tried to create a pdf perhaps, or generally started using apps I had installed following the reinstall of Windows, that I started getting access denied messages. That prompted me to go to User Accounts in Control Panel, and I saw the ASP.NET user account. This account was not something I had seen before, as the sole user I don't often need to go to that part of the Control Panel; the account was probably created when I downloaded Windows updates. I think I deleted from the control panel. So it is possible there are still some folders, or program files related to the ASP.NET user account. From what Digerati had to say I do not see that re-establishing that user account is a priority, unless it is the cause of the continuing denial of access is the problem here. And seeing that "user" did not install any apps ...
It is good that Windows will let you in if you are the only user, having that screen where you have to click on your user name means that Windows only half starts. EG I get home from work, turn the computer on, go off and feed the cat or whatever, come back to check emails and the computer has paused at the Welcome screen. If I have to click on a user name, it then completes more start up procedures before I can do anything.
I hope that makes the situation clearer, in a long winded way.
