PerfNet, what is it?

For the second time this evening I have had the computer lock up. Both times I was playing music (not the same music) and the music went like mad techno, and the mouse would not respond.
I had no option but to hit the reset button, three finger salute did not work.
In Event Viewer the one from a few minutes ago has 2 instances of PerfNet, Category: None Event 2004.
The one from a few hours back just says Application Hang, Category (101), Event 1002
What does all this mean? What is PerfNet, and should I be concerned?

Make that 4 lock ups, the last 2 were as I attempted to log into eBay.
Now seriously

Re: PerfNet, what is it?

And 5, again trying to log into eBay. Can't find anything in Event Viewer, but it is a utility I am not used to using.
Tried using IE (in case Firefox is the problem), had to create a shortcut, not sure how it disappeared from the Start Menu. It started Firefox, probably because FF is my default browser.
This is getting annoying.

Re: PerfNet, what is it?

Well the problem may have been solved.
I called my ISP to see if anyone else was reporting probems with eBay.
At the techie's suggestion I reluctantly cleared ALL my cookies, and the cache (which wasn't large) and have since been able to log on to eBay.
Tis truly odd that only one site was affected, and I would still like to know what PerfNet is.
