Re: music file bitrate question please
It sounds as if your folder listing option may have been changed somehow.
Right click on the top edge of the listings (Name, Size, Date, Etc) and all available choices (Properties) should appear.

Thanks for the speedy reply.
I Tried that and went to "view" and "choose details". I ticked the bitrate box then OK but still only shows file size.
thanks

Re: music file bitrate question please
If it's "checked" off, it should be showing.
Have you exited and restarted the program (Windows Explorer or My Computer)?
Have you tried FULL SCREEN to make sure it's "not off the screen"?

Re: music file bitrate question please
Well the next thing I would suggest it to......
Run a file check on the O/S.
If you have an XP CD:
Click START, RUN, type in:
sfc /purgecache
(This ensures that system files are copied from your Windows installation media, and files which may be infected with malware, or are corrupted, are not
copied from your drive. Some of the files which are restored/replaced may need MS Updates applied. If sfc replaces any such files, you will have to reinstall updates for those files. (If you have Automatic Updates active, this will happen automatically.))
Then type in:
sfc /scannow
Have your XP CD handy.
If you do not have an XP CD:
Click START, RUN, type in:
sfc /scannow
