Unhappy blue screen with no words

I have a screen that turned blue upon start up and there are no messages on the screen there is a slight white bar across the middle as if the cntl, alt del box should be there.

I also started it in safe mode and was able to see icons and such so not really sure if it is the graphics or not please help if possible thanks,

Re: blue screen with no words

Try booting to the Windows Advanced Options Menu again (F8 during boot) only this time, pick Enable VGA Mode. This option starts Windows in 640 x 480 mode by using the current video driver (not Vga.sys). This mode is useful if the display is configured for a setting that the monitor cannot display.

Note: Safe mode and Safe mode with Networking load the Vga.sys driver instead, so if it works in Safe Mode but not when you select VGA Mode, then try Last Known Good Configuration: This option starts Windows by using the previous good configuration.

If still no good, boot to Safe Mode, open Device Manager (Start / Run type devmgmt.msc and press Enter) then expand Display Adapters, then right click and uninstall it. Reboot and XP will reinstall the device and driver which may clear up the problem.
