Computer keeps restarting

Hi, I have been trying to figure this problem out for about 2 months now. Im running out out of ideas :evil:. My computer shuts down randomly,when im on the internet sometimes the windows freeze then all the windows close out of the blu or when im playing counter strike I can play for about 10 15 mins then it will stop responding then crash sometimes I can play longer or sometimes it won't crash at all. None of these problems never happened till I installed new ram,I added a 256 stick to my 128 but I don't get the full 512 I only get 384. So, what could be the problem?
My system specs are AMD K7 700mhz running Windows XP 384 MB of ram

It sounds to me like the computer is overheating. I would remove one of the sticks and run the computer like that for a while to see if it helps. Also make sure all the fans are working fine and there is no dust inside the case.

its still doing it even without the stick in there. Still closes windows randomly and Counter Strike (Steam) still crashes and it shutdown this is crazy!

To me, it sounds like something is over heating DeZire. Did you give the inside of your case a good clean (preferably with compressed air)?

If not, i would say either a software conflict or a peice of hardware failing. The software can be ruled out by a reinstall of XP. You could always try a Repair Install as well.

I took the 2nd HD out and now counter strike still crashes on me I also get blue screens and the computer restarts. Could it still be a heating issue?

i agree, it sounds like overheating are all fam working? I had a vid card once that the fan didnt run anymore and that caused a similar issue, though a powersupply could be the prob too.
I'm surprised u can even get counterstrike to start with so little ram. My system uses 190mb of ram when just sitting idle, my kids puter uses 210mb when sitting idle. XP likes lots of ram. Rule of thumb is to always put the largest stick in the #1 slot.

Like was stated above, completely disassemble your comp if you have to (CAREFULLY) to get all the dust out. Pay close attention to the power supply and the heat sink fins. Dust not only blocks airflow, but it also likes to collect static, which, if there's too much, can fry your comp. If that doesn't help, I'm thinking your power supply is cutting out or is too weak. What's the power rating on your power supply?
