OK,just a couple of things:
You say you have Dialup DSL,however this is a bit misleading.
You may very well have both, but DSL is a highspeed connection, also known as broadband. Many ISPs use Dialup as a fallback in case the DSL connection fails.Dialup is a slow speed connection.
Anyway,in your case with DSL you're always connected.
What you see as the popups is most likely your McAfee Firewall.

jephree is right.Try and take a screenshot before you change any settings. You could use any screencapture program.
Screenhunter is good but my favorite is FastStone Capture,
http://www.faststone.org/FSCaptureDetail.htm

If it is McAfee that throws up the warnings, you have to change your settings there as well so as not to show the warnings if trusted applications are trying to access the internet.

Thanks for the Faststone link Dutchie!

I like it best from all the free ones I've tried.

Never saw it before.

You're welcome.
If you really like it,you may want to send a donation to the author
Not only is he a very nice guy,he constantly makes improvements to his apps.
All of them are very nice.
A word of praise and a donation will go a long way to help with this process.
Yeah, yeah, I know it's "freeware",but I'm not as fanatical about that as some people at alt.comp.freeware
"Free" is never free.It always comes at a cost.
Maybe not to you,but at the expense of the developer.
Development time, equipment cost, server and hosting expenses etc
Just my take on it
