MAJOR Hard drive problems!! help!

Hi guys,

I am writing this because i did something stupid!

Ok So i shut my computer down a couple of days ago.
The same day i started the computer and got Something like Windows/system32/config/system.

So i placed the disc in the non boot drive, pressed R a good few times and she started normally. Now i noticed that night a few programs weren't running right. So i go to microsoft and try this 307545 article. Now my system is OEM, yep someone told me different and also i didn't think.

Anyway do this all the way through.
Boot up and windows looks like it has reset.
But all my documents gone, but my hardrive is still full.
Can't access any programs, even though the shortcuts are still there.
In safe mode go through the different users. All but one our main one i can get into says access denied.

5 of the drivers missing, no sound.

It's all a mess!

All i want to know is, is there a chance of getting my documents back?
Plus when i want to check computer managment says it can't connect.

Plus i can't system restore far back enough.

Please help!! please!

Many thanks

James

What is the exact make and model of the computer?

The manufacturer will have your drivers if you do not have a driver disk.

Did you use the OEM XP disk to Recovery the computer?

As to Access Denied try this:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308421

If you ran a full recovery it is amazing that you can still see old users and data. Usually this would have wiped out all data unless you just ran a repair option.

Anyway most likely all programs will have to be reinstalled.

If necessary (and assuming the data is still there) you can slave this drive in another computer in order to extract data.
