Blank Desktop/I think I need a Boot Disk

Hi, a few day ago I instald some new software on my PC. My computer was working fine, as well the program intell the next day when I trun my computer back on. The desktop is now blank. It has no start menu, clock, or anything. I am not even able to right click. However, I can get to Windows Task Manager by holding Ctrl, Alt, & Delete. When I click on the file tab, and go to New Task I am able to see my files. My stuff is there I just can't get to it.

I went on my laptop do reseach this problum. I have found out that I need a Boot Disk however, I don't know what to do because my computer does not have a Floopy Disk Drive. How can I get this disk in a fourm I can use?

And yes, I did remove the new software from my PC.

If someone could help me, that whould be great.

What is the make and model of your computer?

You should have an XP CD which is the boot disk for XP.

Can you access Safe Mode?

To try and do so hit the F8 key after the BIOS POST but before XP tries to load.

Try the option: Last known good configuration.
