PC freezes during Windows XP installation and also freezes at startup

Hi, I've been getting this problem a while now after constantly re-installing XP. The thing is, it used to freeze at a particular period of time around 33-37 minutes remaining. I've been told about the shift + F10 where I would delete a particular driver being installed just before the pc froze but that didn't help.
But then i was told to try the F8 feature and use debugging then the installation went error free afterwards and windows XP was installed. Now at normal boot up the pc freezes at certain points, and sometimes it doesn't even reach the point where there is the XP loading screen. The thing is it boots perfectly when I use the debugging mode, everything runs fine, then it freezes again. So i don't have a clue what to do now...... its driving me nuts lol.
Please help me
If this helps Windows 98 installs easily, error free, and no signs of freezing. So i believe my hardware is functioning perfectly.

Such errors are generally hardware problems.

XP requires a lot more from hardware than '98 would.

How much RAM do you have? How large is the hard drive? Is it formatted in NTFS? Are you asking the XP Install to Format?

I have 194MB RAM as well as a 10G hard drive(which i know is small but it worked with XP before.) I've tried all the processes of format(NTFS and FAT) to install XP but it still freezes. The only way I get over the freezing of the installation is by using the Debugging mode after pressing the F8 key at startup. But after completing the installation the computer freezes at different times afterwards, sometimes even at the XP loading Screen. Debugging also seemed to prevent the computer from freezing at that point also, not that there wasn't any hang-ups though, but it did decrease it about 99%

At the 34 minute mark XP is installing drivers. Failure at this point is a common issue and relates to driver issues.

As Safe Mode only loads basic drivers this is most likely why it will work somewhat.

I would remove everything from the computer but the basic PSU > CPU > RAM > Graphics Card (or on-board I assume from the RAM count) > CD drive > Hard drive and try again.

This hard drive is the Primary Master? Have you verified the jumpers are set to Master?
