Google Desktop search enterprise edition with Xp

Hi all,

The problem:
  • Recently, I installed Google Desktop search (enterprise edition).
  • After a few hours of letting it index my computer I noticed a considerable slowdown of my PC performance.
  • Then it Hung.

Things I tried:
  • I had to restart. Windows took forever to load.
  • I uninstalled google desktop search and rebooted.
  • Cleaned my registry with registry mechanic.
  • And cleared my cache and other temporary files.

Help!:
  • My computer is still very slow. And I dont know why. I would say a 50 % drop in performance. I run a Windows Xp SP2 on an Intel pentium 4 with 256 MB RAM.

Try a System Restore to a point prior to the original install of Google.

Tried the systme restore. Dint work.

My friend told me that my hdd isnt getting enough power and thats why it takes windows forever to load and also makes my pc performance choppy.

I did hear some cracking sounds (like shorts goin on) from the back of my comp, after which the problem started. Maybe I jumped to the wrong conclusion because this happened at the same time i faced problems with the desktop search.

Has my power unit gone for a toss? Cause my comp still works. Only very slow and cpu usage goes on over drive for normal tasks.

Is there a way to check if my comps getting enough power? like some software or something?

I checked my hard disk. It passed all the tests.
