Media player problem

I have media center 2005 PC. Recently, my Windows Media Player 11 is acting up on me. Here are the symptoms:

1) WMP cannot produce any sound whether it is a MP3 or video.
2) During the playback of the MP3 file on WMP 11, the sound intensity level is moving like it normally would, except no sound
3) iTunes can play the same song ffile without problem
4) My media center can produce sound on TV program but not with music (I think that MC2005 is using the WMP to power the music playback)
5) The computer can produce alert sound signal if a wrong key is entered

I am thinking about reloading the entire OS, but want to see if some can help me first. Thanks

Cool Media player problem

From what you have described I would first try and uninstall WMP through Add/Remove programs and then download and reinstall it.

Please post your results.
