Red face Screen resolution problem!!!

I have just run a windows xp reinstall on my dell inspiron 1100, and my new windows image is too small for my laptop screen, leaving giant black borders around the image. In the display settings, the screen resolution meter will not slide from "less" (640 x 480 pixels) to "more". The color quality only has one option in the dropdown menu, and that option is "Medium (16 bit)." I have installed the driver cd that came with the machine, but nothing changed. Does anyone have any suggestions for me???

system info:

Windows XP Professional
version 2002
service pack 1

Intel(R)
Celeron(R) CPU 2.00GHz
1.99 GHz
640 MB of RAM

Thanks to anyone who can offer me any help!

Jenny

Go to windows update and load SP2 and then reload your graphics drivers.

Getting the latest drivers from Dell is probably the best as well.
