Herringtrader Is a beginner here at D-A-L
error message: load needed DLLs for kernel

Hello,

I was running the "windows live onecare safety scanner" (which doesn't seem to be particularly safe to me!) on my desktop and when I came back to check on the scan I found the following error message on my black screen:

"Windows could not start because of an error in the software. Please report this problem as: load needed DLLs for kernel. Please contact your support person to report this problem."

XP home is not able to boot, not even in safe mode. Every time I start the computer I get the same error message.

Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Thanks,

Herringtrader

1) Boot from your XP Setup CD and enter the Recovery Console

2) Run "Attrib -H -R -S" on the C:\Boot.ini file

3) Delete the C:\Boot.ini file

4) Run "Bootcfg /Rebuild"

5) Run Fixboot
