Laptop won't boot up

Model: HP - Compaq nx9010

I recently downloaded windows XP SP2 updates and restarted my computer and now its crashed. I have tried safe mode and last good configuration but it has not worked. I don't have the resource CD or Drivers CD. I tried the boot from CD option with a CD I got with a dell desktop but that did not work either. The information on this computer is important to me, so if any one can assist, I would greatly appreciate it.

It loads to just after the windows xp screen with the loading bar and as it is going to load the password screen it restarts.

Please Help.
Thanks for any assistance.

You can purchase the Recovery CD from HP:

You can also slave this drive in a desktop either internally with an adapter or externally in a USB enclosure to access the data.

Hi thanks for the info, I am not very good with computers so is there a tutorial on how to slave the drive. I would rather do it externally.
