Red face Problems copying files

Hi

I am trying to back-up my files and copy the information to DVD disks and upon doing so have the following error message:

PROBLEM COPYING
WINDOWS ENCOUNTERED A PROBLEM WHEN TRYING TO COPY THIS FOLDER. WHAT DO YOU WANT WINDOWS TO DO? Retry, Skip, Cancel?

When pressing 'Retry' it just skips back to the error message again.

I have Windows XP 2002 installed and have tried both DVD-RW as well as DVD+RW disks both of which bring up the same error message.

My limited technical knowledge has proved useless to date and I am hoping that someone more familiar with PC's can shed some light on this!

Look forward to hearing from you!

I've had a look into your problem and it looks like it's a problem with not enough hard drive space or the burner is burning too fast, These 2 articles from Microsoft should give you all the info you need

Read this one first:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/u...ptember16.mspx

If the above does not help there is a more advanced article here:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/324129

In summary free up at-least 1gb of hard drive space and set your burner to a lower write speed, If this doesn't work it may just be that your burner is getting old and needs to be replaced, Also the program "NERO Burning ROM" has an option to verify the data after it has been written, I recommend you get a copy of this and use it instead of the Windows XP burning because of this feature.

Hope this helps
