unregognised device

Hi, can anyone help? I have a IBM thinkpad t22 running XP.

Everytime I plug in anything in my USB port I get a bubble saying device not recognised. When I click on it I get a window with USB root/ Unknown device/ unused port. the status on the unknown device is: no driver installed. I tried updating the driver but that didnt help. However if I ngo to the usb root from the device manager it doesnt show any problems in the status box??? I'm lost please help.

Pascal

Is this a new thinkpad if so take back to shop, i had that on my pc think was due to motherboard problems as when i fitted a new motherboard device works ok.

Have you tried the device in another computer to check its not the device that is faulty?
