Can't get a Picture off Desktop

I have XP Professional with SP. Recently I had a virus that would run a mock computer scan when I turned on my computer and then prompt me to buy this "XP Antivirus 08" product and then the computer froze.
I ran a spyware check in safe mode and this got rid of the problem, however there is picture imposed on my desktop wallpaper now telling me I should download this product.
I tried to switch my wallpaper but I find there are tabs missing from the display menu, the "desktop" and "screensaver" tabs.
Any ideas? Thanks
