Mother of a problem
Can anyone help? I have tried to install a new mother board and extra hard drive but with little success. The new board is gigabyte GA-M57SLI-S4 and this is the only thing I am stuggling with. After a time with a faulty board that would not stop buzzing this is its replacement and it crashed many times whilst installing windows xp pro then when its own drivers were installed and both times it refused to recognize any hard drives after the crash. The amount of times windows has been installed on this computer since december now means I have to phone to get it activated and sometimes cannot even use it before acctivation. It crashes on installing its, bios, ISO, internet explorer6/7, service pack 3, or indeed anything it wants to. I did get it working and install the bios and this was fine for two days, in the morning I loaded my programs and in the afternoon it went black and shut down. Every part has been test on another computer and nothing is wrong with any parts. The components are: AMD 64 AthlonX2 (4800)
Maxtor 500+320+80 GB hard drives (not all at once)
600w PSU
G-force 7200le PCIE
2X2Gb 667 ddr2
sony 16x dvd
optiarc 20xdvd
GA-M57SLI-S4 M/B
I have reset the CMOS and did everything the gigabyte techs told me to and now have even more problems because I now find I have no O/S that can be found. I get the (systemroot/system32/config/software) message all the time.
I need a fresh brain on this please. PAB
